Jigawa Teacher Kills, Mutilates Pupil to Cover Up Punishment Death – Police

The Jigawa State Police Command has arrested a 45-year-old teacher, Musa Wada, for allegedly beheading his 14-year-old pupil, Bashir Adamu, and mutilating his genitals in a desperate attempt to cover up the boy’s death during punishment.

Police authorities said Wada, who teaches Almajiri students in Jikas-Dabaja village, Gwaram Local Government Area, killed the teenager after he collapsed while being disciplined for absenteeism.

To divert suspicion, the suspect allegedly staged the killing to appear as a ritual murder by severing the victim’s head and genitals.

Confirming the arrest on Saturday, police spokesperson, SP Lawan Shiisu, said detectives apprehended Wada following a tip-off.

During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed that Bashir collapsed and died while being punished.

“The suspect admitted that the deceased lost consciousness and passed away in the process of punishment. In a bid to mislead the public, he mutilated the body to create the impression of a ritual killing,” Shiisu stated.

Police investigations revealed that the gruesome act came to light on March 12, 2025, when residents discovered a decomposing, headless body without genitalia along the roadside in Jikas-Dabaja village.

Further inquiries led detectives to Wada, who later confessed to the crime and disclosed that he buried the severed body parts on his farmland.

The police assured that Wada would be arraigned after the completion of investigations.
