The Federal Government has announced that it will close down the Third Mainland Bridge in Lagos for 24 hours this weekend to carry out repairs on some critical sections of the bridge.
The closure will start from Saturday, October 21, at midnight and end on Sunday, October 22, at midnight.
The Federal Controller of Works in Lagos State, Mrs Olukorede Kesha, said in a statement that the closure was part of the plans to carry out comprehensive rehabilitation works on the bridge, which is one of the busiest in the country.
She said the Ministry of Works was working on alleviating the pains currently being experienced by motorists on the bridge by fixing the most damaged portions along the Adeniji bound carriageway on Sunday.
She therefore appealed to motorists to cooperate with the traffic management officials and follow the diversions as directed.
She also advised motorists to use alternative routes where possible during the period of the closure, as only the Adeniji bound lane of the bridge would be accessible to traffic.
