The Nigeria Police Force has intensified its response to the mass abduction in Kaduna State, deploying air assets and top officers to the affected community as investigators work to establish the identities and number of victims.
The Force Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, disclosed this on Wednesday during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today, saying the police had confirmed the incident but were still collating details from the field.
“We are still collating names, but we have an estimate. This is an investigation that is actively ongoing,” Hundeyin said. “The moment we have further information, we will update Nigerians.”
He explained that the terrain and absence of surveillance infrastructure had complicated the process of reconstructing the incident, but assured that the police had committed full operational resources to the rescue effort.
“For emphasis, we can confirm that the incident happened and we have deployed all our resources there,” he said. “Today, we mobilised one of our helicopters for aerial surveillance. That is how seriously we are taking it.”
Hundeyin added that the Inspector-General of Police ordered the air operation, while the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police had also proceeded to the area to personally supervise ongoing operations.
The abduction has sparked public outrage and renewed calls for stronger security measures across the state, as residents await official confirmation of the number and identities of those taken.
