Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, on Tuesday approved the immediate removal of the state’s Commissioner for Information, Professor Muhammad Sani Bello, and announced the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki as his replacement.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Malam Ibraheem Musa, and made available to journalists in Kaduna.

According to the statement, Governor Sani thanked Professor Bello for his service to the administration, wishing him well in his future endeavours.

“This follows the disengagement of Professor Muhammad Sani Bello from the Kaduna State Executive Council. His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State, Senator Uba Sani (CON), has approved the appointment of Alhaji Ahmed Maiyaki as the new Commissioner of Information,” the statement read.

Although no official reason was provided for the shake-up, insiders within the Government House hinted that the move is part of a broader effort to reposition the state’s information machinery for improved public communication and policy engagement.

Professor Bello, who was initially appointed as the Commissioner for Education under the Sani administration, was later redeployed to head the Ministry of Information.

His successor, Maiyaki, is currently the Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation (KSMC) and is expected to be sworn in and assume his new role immediately.

He is not new to public communication, having served as the Director-General of Media and Publicity under a previous administration.

Observers believe the latest change reflects the governor’s resolve to strengthen his media team ahead of critical policy implementations and reforms in the state.
