Kano Gov Refutes Fistfight Allegations With SSG, Affirms Leadership Stability

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has categorically denied the allegation that he had  a physical altercation with his Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr. Abdullahi Baffa Bichi.

Speaking on Tuesday, at the swearing-in ceremony of new Permanent Secretaries and Special Advisers at the Africa House wing of the Government House, Gov. Yusuf addressed the claims, stating, “No amount of propaganda will deter his Government from achieving its desired goals,” as reported by PLATFORM TIMES.

This marked Gov. Yusuf’s first public response since Dr. Bichi’s recent medical trip to Saudi Arabia for advanced treatment.

The Governor clarified the appointment of an acting SSG during Bichi’s absence, citing the critical nature of the position and emphasizing that it did not imply Bichi’s removal from the role.

“Because we have appointed the State Head of Service as acting SSG, does not mean we sacked Bichi.

“We cannot allow the position to be vacant due to its sensitive nature,” Gov. Yusuf asserted.

The Governor addressed rumours of a physical altercation with Dr. Bichi, revealing, “I personally overheard some persons speaking with full authority on the local radio programmes that we exchanged deadly blows between myself and the SSG.”

He attributed such claims to individuals he described as “jobless” who, viewing politics as their livelihood, attempt to create unnecessary tension.

Governor Yusuf assured the public that the SSG, currently recuperating, would resume his duties upon his return.

“SSG is recuperating, and as soon as he returns, he will take charge of his position and continue where he stopped,” he affirmed, emphasizing that Bichi’s job remains secure.

In a conclusive statement, Gov. Yusuf made it clear, “Bichi’s job is waiting for him, and I want to assure all that he is still in charge,” reinforcing the stability of leadership within Kano State.
