Kano Government Takes Firm Action: Suspends Two Principals For Neglect of Dut

In  a decisive move, the Kano State Government has suspended two secondary school principals over allegations of absenteeism and negligence of their duties.

The affected principals were in charge of the French Bilingual College and Chinese Bilingual College located in Kwankwaso, Madobi Local Government Area of Kano State.

The suspension was announced by Umar Haruna, the Kano State Commissioner for Education, through a statement released by the Ministry’s Director of Public Enlightenment, Balarabe Kiru, on Monday, September 11, 2023.

According to Kiru, the suspended principals were found absent from their duty posts when a team of ministry officials visited to monitor the commencement of the 2023/2024 first-term school session.

The team, led by the ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Kubra Imam, discovered that students at both colleges were not provided with food on Sunday night, and their breakfast for Monday was also not ready at the time of the visit.

Expressing his disappointment at the lack of commitment displayed by the two principals, the commissioner directed them to hand over the school affairs to newly appointed sit-in principals and report to the ministry pending further investigation.

He also issued a stern warning to all school authorities to avoid any actions that could undermine the administration’s efforts to rejuvenate the education sector.

As part of the measures taken, Umar Sabo has been appointed as the sit-in principal for the French Bilingual College, while Isyaku Abdullahi will serve as the sit-in principal for the Chinese Bilingual College, both located in Kwankwaso.
