The Kano State Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Yusuf Kofarmata, has strongly advised students of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, to steer clear of the pitfalls of drug abuse.

In an official statement released by the Director of Information at the Ministry for Higher Education, Malam Sunusi Kofar Na’Isa, this call to action was communicated on a Friday in Kano.

During a crucial meeting with stakeholders at the university’s theater hall, Kofarmata emphasized the gravity of drug abuse as a societal scourge that can dismantle lives. He appealed to the students’ union to lead the way by initiating an impactful awareness campaign against this menace.

In no uncertain terms, he cautioned that the State Government would take a firm stance against any student found engaging in drug-related activities within the state-owned institutions.

Kofarmata also revealed an upcoming initiative to invigorate extracurricular activities. The state government is gearing up to establish a sports committee that will orchestrate sports competitions across various state-owned institutions.

Commending the commissioner’s appointment, Prof. Musa Yakasai, the Vice Chancellor of Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, acknowledged its well-deserved nature. Despite the university’s challenges, such as a N2.5 billion liability and pending staff pension issues, he sought the commissioner’s intervention to drive positive transformations in the institution and elevate education throughout the state.
