Kereksuk Rice Farm Limited has said it is set to invest in various value chains in the Cross River State green investment initiative.

The farm has already received approval from the state government to invest in 2000 hectares of rice paddy farming in the state.

The investment from the Kereksuk Rice Farm is expected to impact the state’s paddy production, seed multiplication project, and other value chain projects.

Kereksuk Rice Farms added that it is increasing its value chain investment by proposing to create a rice institute and demonstration centre in the state, as well as invest in the multiplication of rice seeds.

The Managing Director/CEO of Kereksuk Rice Farms Limited, Mr. Rotimi Williams, told Daily Trust that his farm has decided to invest in Cross River State due to the state’s safety, greenery and tranquility.

He added that Kereksuk Rice Farm is the second-largest commercial rice farm in Nigeria by land size, but had recently faced security challenges in the northern part of Nigeria, which informed the firm’s decision to relocate most of its investments to Cross River State.

Until recently, the farm had been active in Nasarawa and Plateau states, producing paddy on over 2000 hectares, but heightened security challenges had forced the farm to stop production in those areas.

Rotimi said it felt good to return to Cross River State, which was where he first planned to invest before his sojourn in other lands. He concluded that Destiny has brought him back to Destination Cross River.

The farmer said the Cross River State Governor, Sen. Prince Bassey Edet Otu, has promised to provide a safe haven for investors in Nigeria, adding that the state has taken critical steps to ensure that it remains the safest for investors to consider as their first choice for green investments in Nigeria.

Speaking earlier about the proposed Investment in the state, the Chairman/CEO of the Cross River State Green Economy Commission, Hon. Oden Ewa, said the state was set to lead a revolution in green development in the region.

He added that Sustainable Agriculture presents a key opportunity for green investors to invest in the state, as there is arable land, a secure environment, and ease of doing business in the state.
