Kidnappers have reportedly released a motorcyclist and a passenger abducted four days ago in Imeko, Ogun State, after collecting a ransom of N2.5 million and a new motorcycle.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the victims, Nurat Oladele and her Okada rider, Dauda Isiaka, were abducted by gunmen while coming from Ijio, Iwere Ile, an Oyo community which shares a boundary with the State on Monday, April 1.
The State Police Command had said that it has launched a manhunt for the abductors of the two victims.
An eyewitness reported the incident to the Divisional Police Officer at Imeko in Imeko/Afon Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Omolola Odutola, had confirmed the incident earlier in a statement made available to journalists on Tuesday.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that four days after, ransom was raised by the community and the victims’ family members and paid to the kidnappers before they released Oladele and Isiaka.
Meanwhile, residents of the area have raised the alarm of the arrival of a group of armed men, suspected to be Fulani, passing through Oke-Ola Quarters en route to the northern outskirts of Imeko.
Some of the residents who spoke with PLATFORM TIMES said despite the efforts to intercept them, the armed men remained elusive, leaving the community on edge.
The sources further said that in a subsequent development, two Fulani men, along with a Yoruba Okada rider, were apprehended by the police.
The source claimed that the suspects were later released an hour after.
The sources however lamented that few minutes after the suspects were released another resident was abducted .
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that while the kidnappers failed to capture Mrs. Oparinde Motunrayo, they succeeded in abducting her son, Oparinde Daniel.
The residents of the community have appealed to the police to save them from the hands of their unwanted visitors .
Attempts to contact the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Omolola Odutola failed as she could not be reached as of the time of filing this report .
