In a distressing incident, suspected kidnappers have abducted Pa Adeife Ifelaja, a 70-year-old piggery farmer and elder with the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Ijebu Igbo, the headquarters of Ijebu North Local Government in Ogun State.

Pa Adeife was reportedly kidnapped from his residence in Ijebu-Igbo on the night of December 31, 2023, as he prepared to attend the crossover service.

Reliable sources have confirmed that the abductors have contacted the family, demanding a ransom of N50 million for his release.

A source close to the family disclosed, “Yes, it is true that Pa Adeife Ifelaja was kidnapped on the night of Sunday, December 31, 2023, while preparing for the crossover service. I learnt that the abductors are asking for N50 million, which the family said was huge.

Negotiations were ongoing, and there were talks of reducing the ransom to N10 million, but I am not certain if any payment has been made. The incident has been reported at a police station in Ijebu Igbo.”

Confirming the incident, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Abiodun Alamutu, assured that the police command is actively working to secure Pa Adeife’s release and reunite him with his family.

Alamutu stated, “The police have been working to get the man released. We are on it even when the kidnappers have been trying to mislead us about their location, but we are on their trail, and very soon, we shall achieve success.”
