Indigenes of Eseku community, Creek Town, Odukpani LGA of Cross River State have cried out to Governor Bassey Otu, the Commissioner of Police and other security agencies to help secure release of their abducted daughter who is heavily pregnant.
Sources disclosed that armed men came through the waterways at Esuk Ansa over a week ago and kidnapped the pregnant woman.
The indigenes claimed that the gunmen came for the husband who was not around so they decided to grab the wife as a bait.
The kinsmen of the woman made passionate calls during a phone-in radio programme, appealing to the state authorities to intervene so that the kidnappers do not torture the woman to death.
They said that the abductors have cut down their ransom demand from N60 million to N30 million.
One of the callers, Akabom Nsa, said, “We are in mourning mood. We’re very worried over the health of our pregnant sister. Even the N30 million they are now demanding, we don’t have it. The entire village can’t raise it.
“We’re on our knees. We’re begging both the kidnappers and security agencies to help us. We don’t want to lose two persons at the same time. The state of the husband is now unpredictable. We can only imagine how demoralised our pregnant sister is now.”
