Labbadia gives reasons for rejecting Super Eagles job

Bruno Labbadia has opened up on his decision to turn down the Super Eagles coaching job, DAILY POST reports.

The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, announced the appointment of the German as Super Eagles head coach in August.

The former Germany international, however, turned down NFF’s offer a few days later.

There were reports he rejected the offer due to unresolved tax disputes.

Labbadia has, however, disclosed the reason for opting out of the job.

“I wanted to go abroad. The basic requirement for me was: I have to go to Nigeria to see everything on site. And that was no longer possible after it was announced,” Labbadia told Martin Harnik via Bild.

“It was no longer about the pay. There were various organisational things that were problematic. And then things got tighter and tighter so that I didn’t have two days left for the meeting with the national team. Then I pulled the ripcord because the feeling was getting worse and worse.”
