The Labour Party’s National Working Committee, under the leadership of Ag National Chairman Alh Bashiru Lamidi Apapa, has vehemently refuted claims made by Obiora Ifoh, purportedly acting as a spokesperson for the party.
Ifoh’s statements, allegedly originating from a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), attempted to sow discord within the Labour Party by insinuating collaboration with the current All Progressives Congress (APC) government and interference in the party’s affairs.
The Labour Party condemned what it described as “ignorance” and “political rascality” displayed in Ifoh’s assertions, labeling them as “fallacious narratives” aimed at destabilizing the party.
Of particular concern were allegations linking the party’s leadership to purported agreements with the APC government and insinuations regarding its involvement with PDP’s internal affairs.
The controversy deepened as the Labour Party demanded clarity on the source of funding and intentions behind purported actions aimed at disrupting the party’s stability.
Questions were raised about the $150 million allegedly received by certain factions within the party, with suspicions raised regarding ulterior motives leading up to the 2027 General Election.
Furthermore, the Labour Party underscored its commitment to upholding judicial processes, citing ongoing legal battles and appeals as evidence of its dedication to due process.
The party emphasized its confidence in the pending Supreme Court judgment, which it deemed as the ultimate arbiter in resolving internal disputes and determining the legitimacy of party leadership.
Amidst the turmoil, the Labour Party reaffirmed its stance against external interference and internal discord, emphasizing the need for unity and adherence to legal norms.
The party’s leadership reiterated its determination to uphold the party’s integrity and safeguard its interests, even in the face of external pressures and political machinations.
