Lagos Bus drivers have declared support for the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu stating that the antecedents of the incumbent governor is deserving of a second term.
The group also urged residents and drivers alike to vote for the incumbent Governor for his second term ambition in the upcoming governorship elections.
The drivers made the appeal due to the performance of the governor during his first term, particularly his remarkable effort in battling
COVID-19 pandemic in 2020.
Citing his numerous infrastructural developments in education, road and railway construction, and the smooth operation of BRT buses, which have brought relief to commuters, the transport workers also commended the governor for the improvements made in security, amongst other achievements.
In addition, the bus drivers praised the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his victory in the recent presidential elections despite all odds.
According to them, with Tinubu as the President of Nigeria, all the problems plaguing the nation would soon be a thing of the past.
Speaking on behalf of the drivers, Mr John Omena appealed to “all the drivers plying Lagos roads and other tribes living in Lagos to troop out en masse with their Permanent Voters’ Cards, PVCs and vote for Gov. Sanwo-Olu for second term in the coming governorship election to enable Lagosians continue to enjoy the seamless dividends of democracy and good Governance they have been enjoying in Lagos State.”
He added that Gov. Sanwo-Olu deserved a second term because he had done well in the past four years.
Omena stated: “Before we drivers decided to declare our support for Gov. Sanwo-Olu’s re-election, we took so many things into consideration especially the humane policies of the Lagos State Government toward the residents and non-tribes.
“We observed that it is only in Lagos State that non-tribes can be a Councilor, LASTMA Chief Executive Officer, Special Adviser and Special Assistant to the Governor.
“We also took into consideration the humane manner with which the current destabilised LASTMA General Manager, Mr Bolaji Oreagba and the LASTMA Provost Department are rescuing drivers arrested illegally by its personnel to get justice as they always refund extorted money back to the arrested drivers after thorough investigation revealed that the arrested drivers did not commit any offence to warrant their arrest.”
