In a significant move to prioritize environmental well-being, the Lagos State Government has taken decisive action by closing down the renowned Silk Club, a popular nightclub situated in the upscale Ikoyi area of the state.

The Lagos State Commissioner for Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, officially announced the nightclub’s closure in a post on his social media account, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday night.
Wahab revealed that the swift and necessary action was taken in line with the state’s commitment to maintaining a healthy and peaceful environment for its residents.
The closure of Silk Club was executed by the vigilant officials of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA), who acted promptly on the orders of Commissioner Wahab.
Their efforts culminated in a nighttime enforcement operation that resulted in the nightclub’s closure and subsequent sealing.
Commissioner Tokunbo Wahab emphasized the gravity of the noise pollution issue in his statement, saying, “As I directed, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency @LasepaOfficial conducted a nighttime enforcement operation, leading to the closure and sealing of Silk Club at 190, Awolowo Road, Ikoyi due to noise pollution.”
