Zainab Bayero, the daughter of the late Emir of Kano, Ado Bayero, has made a public appeal for assistance, stating that she and her family are stranded in Lagos without shelter or support.
In a heartfelt video shared on social media, Zainab revealed that she, her mother, and her younger brother have faced severe hardships since the passing of her father, who ruled as Emir of Kano from 1963 until his death in June 2014.
The visibly distressed woman was seen near Eko Hotel in Lagos, explaining that her family has struggled to find a place to stay.
“This is me, the daughter of the Emir of Kano, on the streets of Lagos—unsafe and stranded. No one cares if I live or die,” she lamented in the less-than-five-minute video.
“My father left me with nothing—no education, no home. I’ve tried to survive, but I can’t go on anymore. This is what I’ve become: a woman with no job, degree, or home, with no one to turn to.”
Zainab stated that she had reached out to influential individuals, including the president, Kano State governor, and Emir Sanusi, but no meaningful help had been extended to her family.
She expressed frustration over the indifference shown towards her plight.
“I’ve pleaded for care, but it’s obvious nobody cares if I live or die,” she said. “I want to end it because I can’t keep doing this.”
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that this is not the first time Zainab has made public appeals.
Earlier this year, the Kano State government stepped in to pay the rent for her Lagos apartment after reports of eviction threats.
However, allegations later surfaced that she mismanaged the funds, a claim she has vehemently denied.
Despite the intervention, Zainab said the financial support was insufficient to sustain her family, prompting her to make another appeal.
Zainab’s video has sparked widespread reactions on social media, with many calling for immediate intervention by authorities and concerned citizens.
However, critics have questioned her claims, citing past reports of financial assistance provided to her family.
