LP National Chairman, Apapa Challenges Abure’s Leadership Claims, Urges Medical Evaluation

The National Chairman of the Labour Party, Lamidi Apapa, has  dismissed the claims made by Julius Abure regarding the party’s leadership.

Apapa urged the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and Nigeria Medical Association (NMA) to assess Abure’s mental health urgently.

This was contained in a  statement signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the party, Abayomi Arabambi on Wednesday.

The statement read that the  LP National Working Committee highlighted that Abure’s assertions were based on a Supreme Court Certificate of True Copy (CTC), alleged by Abure to favour his leadership.

The LP emphasised that the Supreme Court judgments SC/CV/845/2023 and SC/CV/842/2023, delivered on September 11, 2023, unequivocally recognized Alh Basiru Lamidi Apapa as the legitimate National Chairman.

The LP challenged Abure to provide the specific Supreme Court suit number and the names of the justices affirming his faction’s leadership, citing alleged  criminal indictment from the Inspector General of Police Investigation Reports regarding alleged conspiracy, perjury, and forgery against Abure.

The LP demanded that Abure publish the police report that supposedly vindicated him or face prosecution.

Furthermore, the LP denounced Abure’s alleged involvement in a plot to harm Comrade Anslem Eragbe, stating that such actions violate constitutional rights to life and dignity.

The LP referenced a restraining order from the FCT High Court against Abure and his associates, emphasising its continued validity until overturned by the Court of Appeal.

Expressing concern for Abure’s mental well-being, the LP urged the Nigeria Medical Association to intervene promptly.

Simultaneously, they called on the Nigerian Bar Association to investigate Abure’s Call-to-Bar Certificate, questioning his legal qualifications.

The LP concluded the statement by reiterating Alh Basiru Lamidi Apapa as the only recognized National Chairman and symbolically burying Abure’s claims at the “Nigeria Political Cemetery, Abuja.”
