A tragic incident unfolded in the Nsukka area of Enugu State as a man identified simply as Ogbonna, popularly known as Mourinho, allegedly murdered his ex-girlfriend, Chisom Ayogu, after she informed him of her impending marriage.

According to reports, the deceased, a native of Amufie in Igbo-Eze North Local Government Area, visited the suspect at his residence on New Anglican Road, Nsukka, to share news of her forthcoming wedding. The meeting, however, turned fatal.

Sources revealed that during the visit, an altercation ensued, leading to an alleged violent attack by Ogbonna on the unsuspecting lady.

Neighbours who were alerted to the commotion found Chisom unconscious and immediately rushed her to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead on arrival by medical personnel.

The suspect, who also hails from Igogoro in the same Igbo-Eze North LGA, has since been arrested by the police and is currently undergoing interrogation.

Enugu State Police Command is yet to issue an official statement, but a source within the force confirmed the incident and disclosed that investigations are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the killing.

The shocking development has thrown both communities of the deceased and the suspect into mourning and outrage, with many calling for swift justice.
