Man Attempts To Sell 8-Yr-Old Son For N20m In Abuja Arrested

In a shocking incident in Abuja, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), FCT Command, has apprehended Chinana Solomon Telpesa Tali for attempting to sell his eight-year-old son, Ushafa, for a staggering N20 million.

Tali’s partner in crime, Pius Aondoakaa, was also taken into custody.
Mr. Olusola Odumosu, the NSCDC FCT Commandant, paraded the suspects, revealing that Tali was nabbed after being enticed to Abuja from Benue.

Aondoakaa, seeking a higher bid, disdainfully rejected an initial offer of N12 million for the “He-goat,” a derogatory term used during the sting operation to refer to the young boy.

Both Tali, 42, and Aondoakaa, 29, belong to the Tiv tribe from R.C.M Abeda Mbadyul village, Logo LGA.

They are slated to be handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for thorough investigations and subsequent prosecution.

Ushafa, the eight-year-old victim, disclosed during interrogation that he is the fourth child of the accused father.

Commandant Odumosu emphasized the FCT Command’s intensified efforts to minimize crime, citing a recent success where intelligence personnel intercepted a father conspiring to trade his eight-year-old son for N20 million.

Acting on a tip-off, the suspects were placed under surveillance. Aondoakaa, in pursuit of a higher bid, rejected N12 million for the “He-goat” and sought N12 million for a boy child, using the term “she-goat” for a girl child and offering it for N15 million.

In response, the father, Mr. China Telpesa Solomon Tali, was lured to Abuja on January 10, 2024, by FCT Intelligence Personnel posing as buyers.

The undercover operation concluded with the transaction for N20 million, leading to the arrest of Tali and the safe recovery of Ushafa.

Tali, a father of six, defended his reprehensible actions, blaming economic hardship and the need to provide for his other children.

NAPTIP Senior Intelligence Assistant, Mrs. Chinere Oseafiama, pledged a thorough investigation into the case for appropriate actions.

In a related incident, the FCT-NSCDC arrested 23-year-old Yakubu Mati on January 11, 2024, for the vandalism of armored cables along the Idu Metro Railway Lines.
