A 42-year – old man, Ifadiya Sholanke who allegedly obtained N8m under a false pretence of selling eight acres of land on Wednesday appeared before an Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo Abeokuta.
Sholanke, whose address was not given is facing a three-count charge of conspiracy, fraud and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Boniface Agboh, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence between 2012 and 2016 at Idi-Ori area of Abeokuta.
He said, the defendant obtained the sum of N8m from one Oladipupo Theophilus on the false pretence of selling eight acres of land to him.
The Prosecutor stated that the defendant also stole the said money.
He said the offences contravened Sections 390(9),419 and 516 of the Criminal Code Vol 1 Laws of Ogun State 2006 .
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr O.A Onagoruwa , granted the defendant bail in the sum of N750,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Onagoruwa said the sureties must reside within the court jurisdiction and must own a landed developed property.
The case was adjourned till March 11 for hearing.
