The Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, has mourned the passing of one of its foremost alumni and business icons, Alhaji Surajudeen Adebisi Bada, describing him as an irreplaceable pillar of transformation and development.
Bada, who until his death was the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of SurryB Petroleum, belonged to the pioneer set of the then Ogun State Polytechnic, admitted in 1979 to study Accountancy.
He was not only a trailblazer in his career but also played a central role in strengthening the alumni body of the institution.
He served as the second National President of the Ogun State Polytechnic Alumni Association and later became the pioneer Chairman of the Committee of Distinguished Alumni (CODA).
The institution noted that Bada’s commitment to its growth and welfare of its graduates remained unshaken until his last days. His final engagement with MAPOLY was in June 2025, when he was honoured with a Distinguished Alumni Award at the dinner marking the 15th Combined Convocation Ceremony.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Rector, Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso, expressed the condolences of the management, staff, and students to Bada’s family and the entire alumni community.
Jolaoso said, “We have lost a visionary, a mentor, and a dedicated alumnus whose footprints in our institution will remain evergreen. Our thoughts are with his family and the alumni association at this difficult time. We pray for the repose of his soul and the strength for his loved ones to bear this irreparable loss.”
PLATFORM TIMES reports that Bada’s death has left a void in both the academic and business communities, where he was celebrated for his resourcefulness and commitment to human and institutional development
