A Military formation of the Armoured Brigade has arrested 23 suspected kidnappers and their Boss, Mr. Salihu Ibrahim who have been unleashing terror on the people in Yola and within the northern and southern parts of the country.
The Brigadier General, Mohammed Jibrin Gambo said this while addressing a press conference in Yola.
He said “the notorious kidnappers who have been on their watch list were the mastermind behind most of the kidnappings in the area and even in southern parts of the country”.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the crime boss was found in possession of a submachine gun with five rounds of 9mm ammunition and a Baretta pistol after a raid at its hideout at Naude Hills where ransom running into millions of naira were recovered .
Gambo said “Ibrahim and his accomplice have been on a security watch list for the past three years.
“Therefore, it is necessary to publicize special incidents recorded during several internal security operations carried out by the brigade which is meant to provide an avenue for interaction between the bridgade and the general populace.
“In the past eight months the brigade has recorded successes in taming the tide of criminal attack on communities and individuals within it’s operational areas, using both Kinetic and non kinetic operational approaches to achieve successes which led to the arrest of 22 syndicates of kidnappers, some with AK-47 riffles , others with locally made weapons
“The troops of his brigade also carried out a raid operation in February in Gombi LGA where an AK47 rifle was recovered and the criminal elements pursued out of location with gunshot injuries. Also the troops carried out an ambush operation in Galga between Garkida and Hong LGA where an insurgent was killed and several others escaped with life threatening and one was also arrested in Mubi.
