In a bold move to address the heinous act of child abuse, Minister of Women Affairs, Uju Kennedy-Ohanenye, has declared a N2 million bounty on Anambra-based lawyer Adachukwu Cukelu-Okafor.

The lawyer is accused of brutally mistreating her 10-year-old house help in an incident that unfolded in the Onitsha North Local Government of Anambra State.

During a press conference in Abuja on Monday, Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye emphasized her responsibility to intervene in matters concerning women and children in the country.

The accused lawyer allegedly inflicted harm on the child, employing objects such as a broken bottle, knife, and electric iron, purportedly in response to an incident involving her daughter.

A distressing video circulating online displays the young house help covered in burns, allegedly caused by Cukelu-Okafor.

Expressing her frustration at the lack of resolution in the case, Minister Kennedy-Ohanenye stated, “I am not going to listen anymore.

“I am going to wage into any issue that concerns women and children across this country.”

Urging the public to assist in locating the accused, she announced the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs’ reward of N2 million for information leading to Cukelu-Okafor’s arrest.

Kennedy-Ohanenye also revealed her plans to address the broader issue of employing minors as domestic workers.

“There’ll be a pronouncement on that within a week from now,” she said, emphasizing the need for Nigerians to act as whistleblowers.

“Especially now that you have a President who listens to your problems, and who is eager to solve them,” she added, encouraging citizens to come forward with information to create a safer environment for women and children.
