The inauguration of 45 confirmed ministers-designate has begun at the Conference Centre of the State House in Abuja.
This follows President Bola Tinubu’s recent release of portfolio assignments for the appointees, with notable figures like former Rivers State governor Nyesom Wike heading the Ministry of Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and Festus Keyamo overseeing the Ministry of Aviation.
Among the ministers are Wale Edun (Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy), Adegboyega Oyetola (Transportation), David Umahi (Works), Festus Keyamo (Aviation and Aerospace Development), and Betta Edu (Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation).

Concerns over El-Rufai’s Confirmation
Nasir-El-Rufai’s confirmation as a former Kaduna State governor faced challenges due to pending security clearances. Similarly, Stella Okotete (Delta State) and Abubakar Danladi (Taraba State) also faced non-confirmation over the same issue.
These developments followed President Tinubu’s submission of a 28-member list to the Senate on July 27.
El-Rufai’s confirmation was denied after scrutiny, leading to speculations about tensions between him and the Presidency.
El-Rufai posted a cryptic message on social media, invoking Bob Marley’s lyrics to allude to the situation.
Ministerial Redeployments
President Tinubu made adjustments to ministerial appointments. Adegboyega Oyetola was moved from the Ministry of Transportation to the Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy.
Abubakar Momoh was also relocated from the Federal Ministry of Youth to the Federal Ministry of Niger Delta Development.
More changes are expected soon, and these changes were put into effect immediately.
Screening Process Overview
The Senate underwent a week-long screening process for various nominees, including former governors and individuals nominated for ministerial positions.
The screening process involved questions and discussions related to their qualifications and potential contributions to their designated ministries.
The process was concluded with the final screening of the nominees Mahmoud and Keyamo.
