In a heartwarming turn of events, 62-year-old Mrs. Fummi Akinade has joyously given birth to a baby boy at the StrongTower Hospital and Advanced Fertility Centre in Lagos.

This miraculous arrival follows a remarkable 31-year journey of marriage without children.

The baby, conceived through In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF), made his entrance into the world on Tuesday via a caesarian section at 37 weeks.

Mrs. Akinade shared her emotional story, revealing that this success came after three previous IVF attempts elsewhere had unfortunately failed.

Speaking with gratitude and joy, Mrs. Akinade expressed her deep faith in God, acknowledging the unwavering support of her husband throughout the challenging years of infertility.

She emphasized the importance of perseverance for couples facing similar struggles and encouraged them to trust in God while seeking appropriate medical attention.

Despite the financial challenges associated with fertility treatments, Mrs. Akinade called on governments to consider subsidizing the costs of IVF and other procedures, particularly for less privileged couples yearning for the joy of parenthood.

Dr. Ayodele Ademola, the Consultant Gynecologist responsible for the successful delivery, shed light on the possibility of assisted pregnancy for women above 62 through IVF and other innovative methods.

He reassured couples that, even in the face of failed IVF attempts, there are alternative approaches such as surrogacy and other advanced methods to explore.

Addressing concerns about older women conceiving, Dr. Ademola shared insights into the advanced techniques employed at StrongTower Hospital since 2014, highlighting the institution’s success stories in helping couples achieve their dreams of having children.

This remarkable tale of resilience, faith, and medical innovation shines a light on the possibilities available for couples facing challenges in starting a family, providing hope for those on a similar journey.
