Muslim organizations, represented by the Supreme Council for Shari’ah in Nigeria (SCSN), voiced concerns over the increased suffering of Nigerians during President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
The President of the Council, Sheikh Abdur Rasheed Hadiyatullah, expressed these sentiments during the SCSN’s National Conference in Abuja, focusing on the theme, “Matters Arising from the 2023 Election and Associated Socio-Economic Challenges.”
Hadiyatullah specifically highlighted the challenges faced by Nigerians, particularly the masses, citing a significant surge in the prices of essential items.
He remarked “the suffering of Nigerians has escalated since President Tinubu assumed office, with items that used to cost 200 naira now being sold at 2,000 naira.
The current state of Nigeria is characterized by cash scarcity, unemployment, and economic challenges.”
Despite acknowledging these issues, Hadiyatullah urged Nigerians to turn to repentance and seek guidance from God.
Former Governor of Zamfara State, Senator Ahmad Yerima, addressed the conference’s purpose, focusing on the review of the 2023 elections and the role of Islamic scholars in society.
Yerima emphasized the dangers of individuals falsely claiming to be Islamic scholars on social media, cautioning Nigerians to be vigilant.
