Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has cracked down on Okada riders who mask their faces while operating within Jos and Bukuru metropolis.

This followed reports of Okada riders flooding Jos and Bukuru, masking their faces while operating in the areas.

When he received the Plateau State Muslim Ummah during Sallah homage at the Government House in Rayfield, Jos, on Monday, the governor described such bike riders as dangerous.

According to the governor, the presence of such Okada riders constitutes a threat to the security of lives and property and must be addressed before it gets out of hand.

“We have received reports that there are Okada riders who engage in the Okada service in Jos and Bukuru and cover their faces during operation, leaving only their eyes visible.

“For this reason, I had meetings with security agencies. From today, I have directed security agencies to arrest those Okada riders seen covering their faces while operating and investigate them, as these riders seem to be troublemakers.

“I learnt that those who cover their faces don’t even know Jos, but people ignorantly patronize them. This is surprising because you don’t see their faces, yet you patronize them. Therefore, I urge you to take serious steps, warn your kids, wives, and other people not to patronize them. People should take caution,” he added.

The governor appreciated the support given to him by the Muslim community, promising to ensure inclusivity in his administration.
