A total of N783.78 million allocated for the construction of classroom blocks in three secondary schools in Ogun State between November 2024 and December 2025 has yielded no visible results, raising concerns over public fund mismanagement.
According to records obtained from Tracka, a civic project monitoring platform, the allocations were as follows:
N304.07 million to AKINKAS INTERBIZ LIMITED for a classroom block at Methodist High School (Junior), Arigbajo.
N303.63 million to STILL EARTH LIMITED for a classroom block at St Peter’s College (Junior), Olomore.
N176.08 million to STILL EARTH LIMITED for a classroom block at Abeokuta Grammar School (Junior), Idi Aba.
All three projects are reportedly under the supervision of the Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology as the implementing agency.
However, field verification visits in January 2026 revealed no construction activity at any of the sites. Contractors were absent, materials were missing, and there was no evidence of mobilization.
The situation has drawn sharp criticism, particularly regarding the misalignment of mandates.
Observers question why an institution with a focus on fisheries and marine education is overseeing secondary school projects, arguing that such diversion weakens oversight and accountability.
Education advocates insist that the N783.78 million, intended to improve learning conditions for Ogun students, must be translated into tangible infrastructure without delay.
The Federal College of Fisheries and Marine Technology has been urged to provide an immediate report on the stalled projects and ensure prompt execution.
The Ogun State Government (@OGSG_Official), the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (@officialEFCC), and the Independent Corrupt Practices Commission (@icpcnigeria) have also been urged to investigate the disbursements and verify implementation status.
