The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has dealt a decisive blow to terrorists operating in the Lake Chad Basin, with airstrikes on November 23, 2024, that led to the destruction of a major food depot and the neutralisation of several terrorist fighters.
The operation, executed under the auspices of Operation Hadin Kai, targeted Jubillaram, a notorious enclave in the Tumbuns area, known for its strategic importance to the insurgents.
Air Commodore Olusola Akinboyewa, Director of Public Relations and Information for the Nigerian Air Force, confirmed that the airstrike was the result of meticulous intelligence gathering.
The strategic location, which had served as both a critical food storage site and a sanctuary for high-ranking terrorists, had been linked to several attacks, including a deadly assault on Nigerian troops in Kareto on November 16, 2024.
In a statement, Akinboyewa outlined the success of the air interdiction mission, noting that NAF fighter jets effectively destroyed the identified terrorist structures, while mop-up operations using cannons ensured that fleeing hostile elements were eliminated.
He emphasized that the operation was backed by extensive intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) missions, which helped locate and confirm the presence of terrorist elements camouflaged under dense vegetation.
“The destruction of the terrorist enclave, including food storage facilities, has severely disrupted their logistical operations and diminished their capacity to launch future attacks,” Akinboyewa said.
“This success underscores the Nigerian Air Force’s unwavering commitment to protecting the nation and its people.”
The operation has significantly weakened the terrorists’ operational capacity, marking a major victory in Nigeria’s ongoing counterterrorism efforts.
The NAF has vowed to continue its relentless operations, both independently and in coordination with surface forces, to ensure that all enemies of the state are brought to justice.
