NAF Airstrikes Kill Bandits, Troops Recover Rustled Cattle

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) reportedly conducted a airstrike in Tsafe Local Government Area (LGA) of Zamfara State, eliminating at least 23 bandits involved in cattle rustling activities over the weekend.

The operation, based on coordinated intelligence, targeted a large group of bandits suspected to be affiliated with the notorious kingpin Ado Aleiro.

According to a report from Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency publication focused on the Lake Chad region, the bandits had ventured out of Tsafe LGA with the intent to rustle cattle from nearby communities.

Troops, acting on timely intelligence, tracked the rustlers to a mountainous terrain, strategically surrounding them as they attempted to flee with the stolen livestock.

“Several bandits were eliminated during the operation,” the report confirmed, although the exact casualty figure is yet to be fully determined.

Eyewitnesses on the ground corroborated that the NAF’s deployment of air assets played a crucial role in disrupting the bandits’ escape.
In addition to the fatalities, sources mentioned that a number of bandits sustained injuries during the engagement.

Troops of Operation Fansan Yamma, alongside recovering rustled cattle, continue their efforts to dismantle terrorist strongholds and combat cattle rustling—a primary source of funding for bandit groups across Zamfara and neighboring states.

Olusola Akinboyewa, the Director of Public Relations and Information for the NAF, was unavailable for immediate comment regarding the specifics of the operation.
