NAFDAC Uncovers Large Consignments Of Fake Cocodamol, GSK Ampiclox In Lagos

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced the seizure of large quantities of counterfeit pharmaceutical products in Idumota, Lagos.

In a statement shared via its X account on Monday, NAFDAC revealed that the confiscated goods include falsified Cocodamol and GSK Ampiclox, which were part of a significant haul linked to the ongoing crackdown on the illegal drug trade in the region.

The agency further disclosed that additional items found during the raid included Benxhexol-5 tablets, which were packaged in cellophane sachets and potentially intended for further processing into counterfeit finished products.

These items were also believed to bear falsified NAFDAC registration numbers.
NAFDAC’s vigilance in tackling the illicit drug trade is part of its continued efforts to safeguard public health and prevent the circulation of substandard and harmful medications in the Nigerian market.

The seized consignments have been swiftly evacuated to prevent them from reaching the market, ensuring the protection of consumers from the dangers posed by these unregistered and fake drugs.
