The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has declared controversial Nigerian singer and social media personality, Darlington Okoye, popularly known as Speed Darlington, wanted over serious allegations including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking.
The agency made the announcement on Friday through an official post on its verified Instagram page, urging members of the public with useful information on the suspect’s whereabouts to contact NAPTIP immediately.
“WANTED BY NAPTIP: Darlington Okoye, aka Speed Darlington, is wanted in connection with alleged offences including rape, cyberbullying, and cyberstalking,” the statement read.
“Anyone with credible information on his whereabouts is urged to contact NAPTIP immediately. Call: 07030000203.”
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the development follows the agency’s ongoing investigation into claims made by the singer, including an alleged relationship with a 15-year-old girl.
A letter dated May 28, 2025, and signed by NAPTIP’s Head of Cybercrime Response Team, Ngamaraju Mangzha, invited Okoye to appear for questioning at the agency’s headquarters in Abuja by 9:00 a.m. on May 30.
In response, the singer reportedly acknowledged receipt of the invitation but requested a rescheduling to June 26, 2025, citing prior commitments.
However, NAPTIP, in a subsequent letter signed by Hakeem Lawal, the Director of Information and Communications Technology and Coordinator of the Cybercrime Response Team, declined the new date and gave the singer a final deadline of June 2 to appear before investigators.
Sources within the agency confirmed to PLATFORM TIMES that Okoye failed to honour the revised date, prompting the declaration.
As of the time of filing this report, the singer has not publicly reacted to the development.
This is not the first time Speed Darlington has courted controversy on social media, but the latest allegations mark the most serious legal trouble he has faced yet.
NAPTIP has assured the public that it is working with relevant law enforcement agencies to track and apprehend the singer.
The case continues to generate public interest, with rights advocates calling for a thorough investigation and accountability.
