The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has sounded a nationwide alert over Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles, warning that the product contains undeclared allergens—milk and eggs—that could trigger severe reactions in consumers with allergies.
The alert, issued as Public Alert No. 041/2025 on December 18, 2025, follows a notification from Rappel Conso of France, the French food safety authority, after laboratory tests confirmed the presence of the allergens.
NAFDAC stressed that all batches of Indomie Vegetable Flavour Noodles with a best-before date of February 6, 2026, are affected.
In a statement, the agency said:
“Although the official risk of these products entering Nigeria is low due to the Federal Government’s ban on noodle importation, there remains a need for heightened vigilance to prevent possible illicit entry or circulation of the implicated Indomie brand.”
NAFDAC further explained that while Indomie noodles are popular in many households for their convenience and affordability, the presence of undeclared milk and egg components could pose serious health risks, particularly for consumers with food allergies.
To mitigate the danger, the agency has activated nationwide surveillance, instructing zonal directors and state coordinators to intensify checks, seize, and remove any recalled products found in circulation.
NAFDAC also urged distributors, retailers, and the public to exercise caution and immediately discard any of the recalled noodles. Reports of adverse reactions or sightings of the product can be made at the nearest NAFDAC office or via the agency’s toll-free line: 0800-162-3322.
“Consumers who come across the product are advised not to consume it,” the statement emphasized.
The agency warned that the product could enter Nigeria through online purchases or international travel, and called for heightened public vigilance to prevent accidental exposure.
