The Nigerian Conservation Foundation (NCF) has announced the appointment of Mr. Adedamola Abideen Ogunsesan as its new Director of Technical Programmes, effective January 1, 2025.
PLATFORM TIMES reports that in his new role, Mr. Ogunsesan will spearhead NCF’s strategic conservation initiatives, driving key projects aimed at preserving Nigeria’s rich biodiversity and natural heritage.
A statement by the NCF obtained by PLATFORM TIMES stated that with over 17 years of experience in environmental management and conservation, Mr. Ogunsesan brings a wealth of expertise in implementing impactful technical programmes.
His leadership will be pivotal in advancing NCF’s core conservation efforts, including the Green Recovery Nigeria (GRN) Programme, species protection, climate change mitigation, and habitat restoration.
Mr. Ogunsesan, who has been with NCF since 2011, has a deep understanding of the foundation’s operations across the country. Prior to this appointment, he served as Technical Manager at Finima Nature Park, where he played a crucial role in daily operations, stakeholder relations, and biodiversity conservation.
From 2018 to 2022, he also worked as the Project Manager at the Lekki Conservation Centre, where he promoted eco-tourism, environmental education, and community engagement initiatives.
A seasoned sustainability and geo-informatics specialist, Mr. Ogunsesan holds a Master of Science in Geography from the University of Lagos and a Master of Science in Geographic Information Systems from the University of Ibadan.
He has furthered his qualifications with certifications in sustainability from the Rotman School of Management at the University of Toronto and in environmental impact assessment and spatial decision support tools from the University of Twente.
Mr. Ogunsesan’s appointment as Director of Technical Programmes highlights NCF’s continued commitment to advancing conservation efforts through innovation, collaboration, and sustainable practices.
His leadership and easy-going personality are set to inspire positive change and drive significant conservation outcomes across Nigeria.
