The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has made significant arrests, including a woman supplying ammunition to bandits and multiple individuals involved in the trafficking of illicit drugs.
In a statement on Sunday, NDLEA spokesperson Mr. Femi Babafemi revealed that a 32-year-old woman, Ubaida Aliyu, was apprehended with 573 rounds of 7.60 live ammunition along the Kaduna-Zaria highway.
Aliyu admitted that she was transporting the ammunition to bandits in Sokoto, highlighting the ongoing challenges of security and illegal arms trade in the region.
In a separate incident, NDLEA operatives on patrol along the same highway arrested Godwin Udochukwu, 35, in connection with the seizure of 25,000 ampoules of Pentazocine injection, a controlled substance often abused for its analgesic effects.
This was followed by the apprehension of Alkasim Mikailu, 35, in Kano during a follow-up operation.
Mikailu was caught with 37,880 ampoules of Diazepam injection, another substance commonly misused for its sedative properties.
Further south, on July 26, NDLEA officers arrested Abioye Adeniyi, 39, and Rafiu Lekan, 41, at Oloko along the Badagry-Seme road in Lagos.
The duo was found with 55 jumbo wraps of Ghana Loud, a potent strain of cannabis.
That same day, Samson Ifeayi Egwutouhi, 30, was nabbed on the Okene-Lokoja-Abuja expressway with 20 blocks of compressed cannabis sativa weighing 10.5 kilograms.
In Bauchi State, two more suspects, Suleiman Yahaya, 50, and Ibrahim Bello, 35, known as “Special,” were arrested on July 25 with 315 blocks of cannabis sativa weighing 204.75 kilograms along the Maiduguri bypass in Bauchi town.
