The management of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) has assured on complete refund to students who paid their obligatory fees prior to the university’s receipt of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFund) loan.
The institution’s Head, Communication Unit, Adejoke R. Alaga-Ibraheem, stated this in a statement, explaining that the university has refunded beneficiaries from the first two batches out of the three tranches of the loans released by NELFund.

She said the university received the third tranche of the students’ loan at the end of April and has begun the collation of students’ payment details.
“For the third batch, which was received towards the end of April, we are currently collating and reconciling students’ payment details.
“Please be assured that refunds will be processed according to regulations once the exercise is completed,” she said.
She expressed the university’s commitment to remain transparent and accountable, dismissing accusations of delay in the reimbursement of the NELFund loans.
“The attention of the University of Lagos management has been drawn to recent publications alleging delays in the reimbursement of NELFund loans to students who have paid their obligatory fees prior to the university’s receipt of the loan.
“We wish to state that UNILAG consistently refunds excess disbursements following a standard process. Refunds are typically processed after reconciliation and verification with NELFund,” she said.
