Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, Ogun state says it had sunk over 30 industrial boreholes while searching for water.
The Provost and Medical Director in the hospital, Dr. Afis Agboola, said this on Friday, during an on-the-spot assessment tour of the management team of the Ogun state Water Corporation to the hospital.
Dr Agboola disclosed that the hospital had experienced tough times, especially when trying to access water, due to the topography of the area.
Corroborating his claim, the Medical Director, FMC, Prof. Adewale Musa-Olomu affirmed that for the past 30 years, the hospital has not enjoyed access to potable water.
However, he applauded the corporation for helping the hospital save millions that would have been spent in further search of water, by providing its service.
The Acting General Manager of the Corporation, Mrs. Muinat Jaji, said it was compulsory for the corporation to confirm the situation regarding supplying of water to every part of the state
She said, “Purpose of this visit is to intimate our customers that we are fully back to providing and supplying clean potable water, and to know the volume of water needed by some of our customers in order to serve them better since water is life and essential’’.
She therefore gave assurance that the corporation would deliver effective services to those that were receiving their services, such as Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Neuro-Psychiatric Hospital, Aro, Rock-City Radio Station and Stella Obasanjo Children’s home, Ibara Housing Estate, all in Abeokuta.
Appreciating the corporation, Musa-Olomu lauded it for restoring water supply to the hospital.
He said, “water is running now and there is adequate distribution in all units of the hospital, it is drinkable’’.
Dr. Agboola said that the Corporation had helped the institution to provide adequate, cheap, safe water supply and promised to reciprocate the gesture by paying water bills promptly.
