    New Media Project, PWD Spotlight, Set To Host 3-Day Webinar On Ethical Reporting Of Disability Issues

    PWDSpotlight, a media platform dedicated to amplifying the stories, innovations, and leadership of persons with disabilities, is set to host a powerful three-day webinar series that will bring together influential journalists and experts to explore how media can become a more inclusive space for persons with disabilities.

    The series will spotlight underreprqesented voices, challenge industry norms, and champion authentic storytelling from a lived disability perspective.

    Day 1: “Inclusive Journalism & Representation” Tuesday, July 29, 2025.

    Facilitators: Blessing Oladunjoye and Tomisin Adeyefa.

    The opening session will focus on how journalists and storytellers with disabilities are reshaping mainstream narratives.

    With a strong emphasis on lived experience, this conversation will tackle the importance of challenging stereotypes and driving change from within the media industry.

    Attendees will gain insight into how authentic representation can shift societal perceptions and promote deeper understanding of disability identities.

    Day 2: “Journalism for the Promotion of Special Education & Inclusive Technology”Thursday, July 31, 2025.

    Facilitator: Dr. Rita Okonoboh-Fagbayi

    This session will look into how journalism can play a vital role in promoting access to special education and emerging inclusive technologies. Dr. Okonoboh-Fagbayi will explore the intersections of media, education, and tech innovation, emphasising the journalist’s role in advocating for systems that empower learners with disabilities.

    Day 3: “Disability Reporting Through the Lens of Solutions Journalism” Monday, August 4, 2025. Facilitator: Jamiu Folarin.

    Closing out the series, this session will introduce participants to the principles of solutions journalism in the context of disability reporting. Jamiu Folarin will guide attendees through frameworks that move beyond problem-centred narratives to highlight resilience, innovation, and effective responses within disability communities.

    Attendance is open to media professionals, advocates, educators, and anyone interested in reshaping how disability is covered in the news.

    The webinar series aims to build a stronger, more inclusive media landscape that centres lived experiences and empowers marginalised voices.
