The acting governor of Niger State, Yakubu Garba, has called for peace between the Gbagyi and Fulani communities in Barkuta, Bosso Local Government Area.

This was following a recent communal clash between the two sides in the area.

During a visit to the affected community, Garba met with leaders from both groups as well as key stakeholders, including the Commissioner of Police, commissioners for Homeland Security, Agriculture, and Nomadic Affairs, and the Chairperson of Bosso Local Government Area.

He expressed sorrow over the incident, describing it as unfortunate, and emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence among ethnic groups.

The acting governor assured that the state government would take necessary measures to address the issue just as he conducted an on-the-spot assessment to gauge the extent of the damage.

Garba then prayed for the repose of the souls of the dead and the quick recovery of the injured.

Communal violence erupted in the council between the Gbagyi and Fulani people of Barkuta, Beji Ward of Bosso Local Government Area, which resulted in the loss of lives.
