Nigerian Army Arrests Groom During Wedding

In a shocking turn of events, the Nigerian Army has come under scrutiny for the arrest of Peter Chibuzo Agwu during his wedding ceremony in Abia State.

The arrest was allegedly triggered by someone on the military’s wanted list sharing Agwu’s wedding invitation on Facebook.

Family members express deep concern as Chibuzo remains in solitary confinement at the 82 Division of the Nigerian Army in Enugu State, unaware of the charges against him.

Samuel Agwu, the elder brother, revealed that the military has not disclosed any specific offense committed by Chibuzo, questioning the justification for ruining his wedding.

Samuel Agwu, a native of Abia State, raised distress over the fact that his brother’s arrest was seemingly connected to an unknown person in Imo State tagging the wedding invitation on Facebook.

He emphasized that Chibuzo had no knowledge of this person and lamented the drastic impact on his brother’s marriage.

“My brother is being held as bait for those wanted persons to come forward and not because my brother did anything wrong,” Samuel Agwu asserted.

Desperate for assistance, Samuel Agwu called on Nigerians, as well as human rights organizations such as Amnesty International and the Nigerian Human Rights Commission, to intervene before further harm befalls his brother.

He pleaded for Chibuzo’s release, arguing that he is innocent of any wrongdoing.

The confusion deepens as Samuel Agwu revealed that the alleged culprit behind the Facebook sharing, Sunny Okorie, is unknown to them.

The only encounter with a person named Sunny was during the traditional marriage ceremony when the community nominated him as the marriage mediator.

Expressing bewilderment, Samuel Agwu explained, “We are confused as to what is really going on. Please help us in any way that you can. I don’t want anything to happen to my only brother.”

Human rights advocate Okechukwu Nwanguma condemned the arrest, labeling it as illegal and unconstitutional. Nwanguma stressed that arresting individuals in lieu of others is prohibited by both the Police Act and the Administration of Criminal Justice Act.

He called on the military to release Chibuzo promptly or charge him if any offense had been committed.
