The Nigerian Army has dismissed four frontline soldiers engaged in counter-insurgency operations in the North-East for allegedly disobeying standing orders.
The dismissed personnel are Mukaila Mutari (22NA/88/10253), Isah Emmanuel (22NA/83/7262), Kolomo Alex (24NA/86/5151), and Ibrahim Musa (24NA/86/0885).
Their dismissal, dated Monday, 17 November 2025, was said to have been confirmed through official military channels.
Photographs sighted show the soldiers in their desert camouflage uniforms.
The Army, however, has yet to disclose the specific “standing order” they reportedly flouted.
A standing order in military parlance is a permanent directive issued by superior officers, remaining in effect until formally canceled or modified. Violations are treated with strict disciplinary action.
The announcement comes amid escalating violence in the North-East, where fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) recently ambushed a military convoy.
Reports indicate that the attack left at least two soldiers and two members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) dead.
In a separate development on the same day, Brigadier-General Musa Uba was confirmed to have been captured and killed by ISWAP insurgents, highlighting the rising security challenges confronting the military in the region.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that Major General Abdulsalam Abubakar, Theatre Commander of Operation Hadin Kai, personally led rescue operations in Damboa, Borno State, following the abduction of army personnel during Friday night ambushes.
The Army has maintained that all counter-insurgency operations are being conducted under strict operational protocols to minimise casualties and ensure mission success.
However, the dismissal of the four soldiers underscores the military’s resolve to enforce discipline among troops on the frontlines.
