Nigerians have taken their displeasures over the postponement of the elections by the Independent National Electoral Commission to social media as Twitter handlers bared their minds.
Many of them described the postponement as suspicious and untimely.
Social media handlers while reacting to the post made by the electoral body on their verified Twitter account alleged INEC of working with the federal government to rig the forthcoming election.
They maintained that the postponement had degraded the integrity of the electoral body and its national Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.
One of the twitter user identified as Wike Franklin asked that “What will now happen to the already released and distributed sensitive materials. We need answers on that”.
Another user, Enejor Dominic maintained, “It’s a disgrace to your own personal integrity INEC chair, you used good 15months to prepare for this well-anticipated election with the heavy budget, and at the end you postpone it”.
John Okon stressed, “Failure in leadership! How can INEC make such changes a few hours to the election? You had years to plan”.
Olushola Babs said, “Nigeria my country. When shall we know how to manage her property. The whole system is a mess”.
Meanwhile, the Peoples Democratic Party rejected the postponement of the election by the electoral body.
In the PDP official verified Twitter account cautioned the commission for what its described as a template for rigging.
The statement read, “This to caution INEC to note that there is no way it will allow such direct rigging template to stand.
“If this is not reversed immediately, we will have no other option than to call our members to take definite legitimate steps to defend our electoral process”.
