Nigerians in the diaspora and Canadians on Sunday thronged Ontario, Canada, for the grand opening of the 2025 Solteque Canada Trade Mission, a five-day cultural and business showcase designed to deepen ties between Nigeria and international markets.
The trade mission, which runs until Friday, August 22, is holding at the Emerald Banquet Hall, Etobicoke, Ontario, and features exhibitions in cultural fabrics, real estate, African cuisine, financial services, and business networking.
Convener of the programme, Chief Olawale Olaleye, the Bobawoga of Orílé-Ìtẹsi, said the annual gathering had become a unifying platform for Nigerians abroad to engage global partners while celebrating their heritage.
“This trade mission is not just a business gathering; it is a platform to celebrate our identity, strengthen economic ties, and foster collaborations that will positively impact both Nigeria and the diaspora,” Olaleye declared.
He explained that this year’s edition was deliberately structured to spotlight Nigerian entrepreneurs, professionals, and cultural ambassadors while creating sustainable linkages with Canada’s business community.
Dignitaries, investors, policymakers, and cultural advocates from across North America and Africa are expected to participate in the event, which has been described as one of the most significant diaspora-led trade missions in recent years.
With cultural displays, high-level discussions, and deal-making opportunities, the Solteque Trade Mission is projected to open fresh channels for investment, cultural exchange, and diaspora engagement.
