The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has issued a weather forecast indicating a three-day weather pattern across the nation.

NiMet’s Weather Outlook, disclosed in Abuja on Saturday, projects dust hazes over the northern region from Sunday extending through Tuesday.

While the North Central region is expected to experience sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere during this period, the inland states of the South and the coastal belt are predicted to have cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine in the morning.

Later in the afternoon and evening, localized thunderstorms are anticipated over specific areas in Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states.

On Monday, NiMet envisions sunny skies with a hazy atmosphere persisting over the North and North Central regions.

The inland states of the South and coastal cities are expected to witness cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine in the morning, while localized thunderstorms are anticipated later in the day over parts of Imo, Abia, Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, and Cross River States.

NiMet predicts that Tuesday will see sunny and hazy skies prevailing over the North and North Central regions.

Meanwhile, the inland states of the South and the coast are likely to experience cloudy skies with intervals of sunshine in the morning, followed by thunderstorms over most parts of the southern region later in the day.

The agency emphasizes the suspension of dust particles in the atmosphere, urging the public to take necessary precautions, especially those with asthma and respiratory issues.

NiMet advises against driving and walking through floodwaters due to potential flash floods during moderate to heavy rainfall.

It also cautions the public about strong winds accompanying thunderstorms, urging proactive measures to avert loss of lives and property during the rainy season.

Furthermore, NiMet advises airline operators to stay updated with weather reports for effective planning in their operations.
