The Ogun State Police Command has emphatically refuted claims of a kidnapping incident at Salawu Abiola Comprehensive High School, Abeokuta.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, SP Omolola Odutola said this in a statement on Saturday
Odutola said police, after a thorough investigation, have categorically stated that the alleged case of kidnapping is nothing more than a baseless rumor
She said that the controversy arose following an online news report that three students of the aforementioned school had been kidnapped on Friday, September 29, 2023.

Principals Olapade K. O (Principal Senior School) and Bankole T. A (Principal Junior School) were actively involved in the inquiry.
Additionally, parents of the students were contacted, and none of them reported any cases of kidnapping to the school.
In response to these findings, she added that the Commissioner of Police,Abiodun Alamutu has assured the public that security measures across the state have been strengthened.
Residents are encouraged to carry on with their daily routines without fear for their safety or property.
The Police Command also appeals to online writers to exercise due diligence in verifying the authenticity of stories before publication.
