CLAIM
There are two parody accounts on Twitter @Aderinto∅ and @ProfSaheedAde claiming to be of Professor Saheed Aderinto.
VERDICT
Prof Aderinto has no Twitter account
VERIFICATION
Two Twitter accounts had been parading as the profile of Aderinto. The accounts have made several controversial tweets and responses in the name of the Professor.
While @Aderinto∅ which has now been deactivated while @ProfSaheedAde still remains active.
Before it was deleted, @Aderinto∅ had been used to make controversial statements including endorsement of politicians.
However, @ProfSaheedAde still remains active and has the pictures of Aderinto on the profile
The account also had on several occasions issued a disclaimer about parody account.
“DISCLAIMER: IT HAS COME TO MY NOTICE THAT A PARODY ACCOUNT HAS BEEN SET UP AND TWEETING IN MY NAME.
I HEREBY INFORM THE GENERAL PUBLIC THAT SUCH TWEETS DOES NOT REPRESENT PROF. SAHEED ADERINTO BY ANY MEANS. THANKS”
A check on the account showed that it has also been used as a pseudo account for Nollywood actor, Pet Edochie.
Meanwhile the professor has dissociated himself from all existing Twitter accounts linked to him.
In a post made via his LinkedIn account, Aderinto while responding to a congratulatory tweet from Labour Party Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi wrote:
“Additional Pressure ti wa. Thank you sir
P.S: I don’t have a Twitter account, I see that a parody account has been created in my name. I didn’t make those statements on Twitter.”
CONCLUSION:
The Professor himself has said he has no twitter account, therefore all Twitter accounts opened in his name are parody accounts
