The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) has intensified its pressure on the Nigerian government and security forces, urging them to maintain vigilance until all remaining captives held by terrorists are freed.

This call comes following the release of pupils abducted from Kuriga in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State, North-West Nigeria.

The CNG, led by its national coordinator, Jamilu Aliyu Charanchi, expressed satisfaction with the successful release of the abducted schoolchildren aged five to 18, who were kidnapped on March 7 from Kuriga primary and secondary schools. The group commended the efforts of various stakeholders involved in ensuring the safe return of the pupils.

In a statement, the CNG emphasized the need for a comprehensive approach to addressing insecurity, advocating for collaborative efforts between security forces, the public, and other critical stakeholders to eliminate the menace from affected communities. The group urged sustained efforts to secure vulnerable areas and rescue all individuals still held captive by bandits.

Highlighting recent surges in attacks in Katsina and Zamfara states, the CNG called on state governors to intensify efforts and collaborate closely with the Federal Government to combat violent attacks targeting innocent citizens.

The coalition stressed the importance of remaining vigilant and working towards ensuring the safety and security of all residents in vulnerable areas. It reiterated its commitment to promoting peace, unity, and development in the region, while advocating for policies that prioritize the welfare of the most vulnerable members of society.
