A yet-to-be-confirmed tragic incident has thrown residents of Ogba in Lagos State into mourning following the alleged suicide of a young woman identified simply as Bola.
It was gathered that the deceased was a staff member of a finance firm, Wado Credit & Co., located in the Ogba area. Colleagues described her as hardworking and reserved, noting that she had recently been under intense personal and financial pressure.
Sources in the area said a bottle of pesticide, suspected to have been ingested, was found near her.
A note reportedly recovered at the scene revealed deep emotional distress and feelings of hopelessness.
“Nothing is working in my life,” the note partly read.
She allegedly lamented poor performance at work and mental exhaustion, writing, “My figures are low. My brain is clogged up.”
The note also referenced the country’s harsh economic climate and what she described as wrong personal decisions.
“The economy is getting harder. My decisions are wrong. My mind is messed up. The future doesn’t seem bright at all. I see extreme hardship,” she reportedly wrote.
The deceased was said to have apologised to her family members and friends, mentioning them individually in the note, before ending with a prayerful appeal: “Dear Lord, have mercy on me.”
As of the time of filing this report, the incident had yet to be officially confirmed by the Lagos State Police Command.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the command was not immediately aware of the case.
“We are not aware of the case yet, but we will contact our divisional officers for details,” she stated.
Efforts to reach the management of the firm where the deceased reportedly worked were unsuccessful as of press time.
