It was a disappointing Sunday evening for fans of Abia Warriors Football Club of Umuahia as their team was beaten 2-0 at Umuahia township stadium by Remo Stars of Ikenne during the match day 1 of the Nigerian Premier Football League, NPFL.

The match which was played in front of large excited home fans who came to cheer the Warriors, produced interesting plays from the home and visiting teams.

But goals from Sodiq Ismail and Babajide Fatokun saw the away team running away with victory.

But the story was rosy for Abia State in Owerri as Enyimba international FC of Aba beat their oriental neighbors, Heartland by 3-1, posting an emphatic result against the Owerri -based team which was recently re-admitted into the NPFL.

Enyimba fans came to Owerri in their good numbers to cheer the Elephants.
