The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) on Wednesday announced the dismissal of an Assistant Commandant General (ACG) and 37 other senior officers for gross misconduct, insubordination, and acts unbecoming of superior officers, in line with the Public Service Rules (PSR).
The Corps’ spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja, adding that a total of 76 officers—including senior and junior personnel—were sanctioned in 2025 for offences ranging from extortion, job racketeering, fraud, to aiding and abetting illegal petroleum dealings.
He said the Commandant General of the NSCDC, Professor Ahmed Audi, approved the disciplinary actions following recommendations by the Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB), and the Corps’ Senior and Junior Staff Disciplinary Committees.
“Thirty-eight senior officers were dismissed for gross misconduct, insubordination, and acts unbecoming of superior officers.
Additionally, two officers were demoted by two ranks, one officer demoted by one rank with loss of seniority, and five received official warning letters,” the statement said.
The Junior Staff Disciplinary Committee also handled 30 cases involving serious infractions such as absence without leave, gun running, and fraud.
Twenty junior officers were dismissed, three demoted by one rank, and seven issued warning letters.
Professor Audi said the disciplinary measures form part of ongoing reforms to cleanse the Corps and reinforce public confidence in its operations.
He urged officers to remain committed, disciplined, and loyal in carrying out their statutory duties, stressing that the expanding mandates of the Corps demand the highest level of professionalism.
